Lead by Dr. Craig Cary (University of Delaware, College of
Marine Studies and University of Waikato, New Zealand) the
Metagenome group was formed back in mid 2001.
A very diverse group of researchers, students and partnes
from industry was put together, supported by NSF and NIH grants,
whose main goal was to pursue complex chalenges sought in
sequencing and characterizing the Alvinella Pompejana
Epibion community.
As a group, we have been contineously pursuing this goal in
the last four years. Our work has been internationally recognized
and supported on many ocasions.
We actively continue to advertise environmental metagenome
research as well as deep sea science through educational outreach
collaboration with schools throughout the world. <read
